FCA posted sales in Italy of nearly 38,600 vehicles for June, bringing sales for the six months year-to-date to nearly 266,800 vehicles, with market share at 24.7%.
For the second quarter, Group sales totaled nearly 135,000 vehicles and market share was 24.7%.
Jeep and Lancia posted positive performances in June with sales up 9.0% for both brands.
In addition, the Fiat Panda, Fiat 500L, Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Fiat Qubo, Jeep Renegade and Fiat 124 Spider were leaders in their respective segments in June, with the 124 Spider posting more than a five-fold increase in sales and segment share. The Fiat 500, Lancia Ypsilon and Jeep Compass also ranked among the leaders in their respective segments.
A total of four FCA models ranked in the Italian top ten for the month. These included the Fiat Panda (first), followed by the Jeep Renegade (second), Lancia Ypsilon and Fiat 500X.
Results by Brand
Jeep posted a 9.0% year-over-year increase in June sales with 8,400 vehicles sold. Market share was 0.5 percentage points higher at 4.9%. Year-to-date, brand sales totaled 47,000 vehicles, with market share increasing to 4.35%. The Renegade and Cherokee posted positive year-over-year performances with June sales increases of 31.0% and 86.0%, respectively. The Compass progressively increased segment share during the second quarter, reaching 11.0%, while sales of the Wrangler increased 64.0% for the year-to-date.
Lancia registered positive results once again, with June sales up approximately 9.0% to 4,400 vehicles and market share 0.25 percentage points higher at 2.5%.
Year-to-date, brand sales were up 27.7% to 34,700 vehicles and market share was 0.8 percentage points higher at 3.2%.
The Lancia Ypsilon continued as one of the most popular vehicles in Italy and was leader in the B segment for June and the year-to-date with significant increases in both sales and market share.
Fiat brand sales in June totaled 23,200 vehicles with market share at 13.5%. Year-to-date, sales totaled 170,600 vehicles and market share was 15.8%.
The Panda continued as the best-selling vehicle in Italy with 11,300 units sold and it was also leader in the A segment with a 37.6% share. Combined, the Panda and 500 held a 45.5% segment share.
The Panda, 500L, Qubo and 124 Spider each led in their segment for both June and the year-to-date, while the Tipo was number one its segment for both the second quarter and the year-to-date. The Panda and Qubo posted respective sales increases of 20.0% and 37.0% for the year-to-date, while the 124 Spider posted a 462.0% year-over-year increase in June.
The Fiat Panda, overall market leader, and Fiat 500X were both in the Italian top ten in June.
Abarth posted an 18.0% year-over-year increase in June with a total of 450 vehicles sold. With the arrival of the summer season, sales of the Abarth version of the 124 Spider were up 350.0%.
Alfa Romeo posted June sales of nearly 2,600 vehicles with market share at 1.5%, the highest level so far this year.
Year-to-date, brand sales totaled 14,400 vehicles with market share at 1.3%.
The Stelvio continued as leader in its segment for the month and year-to-date, while the Giulia confirmed its leadership position.
