Madonna di Campiglio: Fiat Freemont star of “Wrooom 2013”

  • Fiat sponsors the first Formula 1 and MotoGP dates.
  • The organisation can count on a fleet of Fiat Freemonts.
  • The Fiat Chalet, an elegant and glamorous refuge more than 2000 metres above sea level will host some initiatives that will bring the activities at Madonna di Campiglio to life.
  • The second edition of the 'Fiat Top Ski Schools Project' started right from Fiat's 'winter home' in December. This operation again saw the Freemont model at the side of 640 ski instructors from 14 of the most prestigious Italian ski schools.

"Wrooom 2013 - F1 & MotoGP Press Ski Meeting", the prestigious event organised in Madonna di Campiglio (Trento) in which Fiat is participating as Sponsor, is taking place in this period. The event is reserved for trade press and acknowledged as the first "official" appointment of the sporting season. It will involve various meetings with stars of Formula 1 and MotoGP. These will naturally include the drivers of the Scuderia Ferrari: Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa.

The sponsorship of the high-altitude event is perfectly in line with 'Fiat Winter Fun', the 360° approach of the Fiat brand, for a thrilling experience of the winter season distinguished by fun and safety. In particular, the brand has provided the organisation with a fleet of Freemonts, the first Fiat vehicle to result from partnership with the Chrysler Group, for an exclusive courtesy service.

"Wrooom 2013 - F1 & MotoGP Press Ski Meeting" is a great festival of engines and fun, all made even more original and exciting by the many initiatives scheduled to liven up the evenings in Madonna di Campiglio. Some of these appointments will be hosted at the Fiat Chalet, an elegant and glamorous refuge located at an altitude of more than 2000 metres, against the fascinating backdrop of the Dolomites. It has been the "winter home" of Fiat since 2006.

Right in front of the Fiat Chalet, the public can admire an example of the Fiat Freemont, the model that evokes a sense of freedom, and the ability to face up to any situation that everyday life might bring. The range currently comprises 4 trim levels - Freemont, Urban, Lounge and Park Avenue - two drive systems, front-wheel or "on demand" active All-Wheel Drive (AWD), manual gearbox or automatic transmission (both with 6 speeds) and three engine versions: 140 HP 2.0 MultiJet 2, 170 HP 2.0 MultiJet 2 and the powerful 3.6 litre engine from the Chrysler Group's Pentastar family. AWD versions always come with a six-speed automatic transmission that ensures excellent performance together with precise and quiet operation for ultimate comfort and satisfaction at the wheel.

The AWD system is 'active' type, requiring no intervention on the part of the driver. An electronic control unit measures the grip of the four wheels and, analysing individual driving style as well, independently determines when to transfer drive to the rear. The system intervenes on surfaces where the wheels may not have good grip (mud, snow, ice...) to ensure maximum traction and no limits to the routes the vehicle can take, or in the case of asphalt surfaces, to ensure additional traction and greater safety on bends.

It certainly isn't the first time that the Fiat Freemont has taken centre stage in this world-famous location, one of the most evocative and beautiful places in the Dolomites. The second edition of the 'Fiat Top Ski Schools Project' started right from Fiat's 'winter home' in December 2012. This operation saw the Freemont model at the side of 500 ski instructors from 11 of the most prestigious Italian ski schools for the winter season. This year the project is extended to three further schools, involves more than 640 of their instructors and also sees the participation of the new Panda 4×4, the only four-wheel drive model in segment A.
